Pet immune motion detectors are effective in reducing false alarms generated by pet activity.

Pet immune motion detectors are engineered and designed specifically to work around a specific amount of weight. With that being said keep in mind that pet immune motion detectors will generate false alarms. False alarms caused by pet immune motion detectors are a major cause of confusion among alarm end users and the alarm industry professionals who are not trained in pet immune protection installations. This happens if they are not properly designed and/or installed according to manufacture’s instructions. The image above is a depiction of how a infrared motion detector sees heat. In that picture the motion detector would see both dogs as a single pet as they are touching. The max weight limitations should not exceed the total combined weight of your pets.

Pet Motion detectors are often required to be mounted at a specific height. These detectors often have a circuit board that needs to be adjusted to a specific scale i.e. -7 degrees. This is based on distance, furniture proximity, etc, Caution! Only experienced technicians should attempt adjusting pet immune detectors. If these pet immune detectors are not adjusted properly a detector may not detect a real threat (i.e. burglar).

In the above pictured example (immune motion detector) we strongly suggest that a hallway lens a.k.a.: barrier lens is installed so that false alarms are less likely. These special installation applications require skilled technicians who have been trained properly. Contact a service provider to have a pet hall lens (or other lens) installed in your motion detector. Be sure to request from the alarm company a guarantee of performance prior to installing a pet immune motion detector. This will ensure that proper installation techniques are used in accordance with the manufacturers's specifications.

The pet immune motion detector shown here costs the owner over five hundred dollars in false alarm fees. The alarm company that installed this detector failed to install it properly. The cat's close proximity to the pet immune motion detector made the cat look like a 120 lb dog. The detector's infrared pattern is not designed for close encounters with pets. That is why they are often required to be mounted six and one half feet high upon installation ( or other specs) If you have added furniture or re arranged furniture then you may need to have a alarm professional relocate and or replace the pet immune motion detector.

Pets (dogs) are territorial. They often will paw at doors, windows, in attempt to exit and confront visitors. During these encounters doors and windows are subject to vibrations. Make sure all doors and windows are locked and secured.  If there are shock sensors on the windows you may want to keep your dog from that area of the house.
